On fifth day of Navratri Maa Skandamata is worshipped. She is the fifth avatar of Maa Durga. The fourth day of Navratri was dedicated to Kushmanda maa. According to Hindu scriptures, when Mata Parvati became mother of Kartikeya, whose another name is Skanda, Mata Parvati known by Skandamata name. In her pictoral depictions mata can be seen with four hands holding lotus in two hands while holding kartikeya with the third hand and Abhaya Mundra in the fourth hand.
Maa Skandamata is the symbol power and prosperity. People worshipped Skandamata for getting salvation in their life. She teaches us about the mother-son relation. Mata sat upon lotus therefore also called as Padmasana Devi. Her carrier is a Lion. If Maa Skandamata is worshipped sincerely, then she fulfils are our wishes and showers happiness in lives.
